The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch through Thursday morning. When this system is all said and done with we could be getting anywhere from 3-5 inches. The threat this has prompted the Bossier Parish Highway Department to begin filling up sand bags for parish residents.

Director of Public Safety Sammy Halphen says the sand bags are available from 7 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. from now through Thursday. The free sand bags can be picked up at the highway department's facility, located at 410 Mayfield St. in Benton. You can call the highway department at 965-3752 for more information.

The City of Shreveport is offering sand bags from 7:30 a.m. until 9 p.m. You can pick up the bags at the city's Streets and Drainage facility at 3825 Mansfield Road. Each resident may have 25 bags free of charge. For more information, call 673-6932.
