Diana Sanchez Edwards is This Week’s Caught in the Act Award Recipient

Every now and then you meet an angel and you know that you were the one blessed by that meeting, and that's just how we felt this morning having Diana Sanchez Edwards on the phone.

She's this week's Caught in the Act Award Recipient and for very good reason.

Just take a look at her nomination letter submitted by her friend Tina Heiss and you'll see why.

I'm not sure where to begin with Diana's good deeds and endless list of things she does for others. First and foremost, she is a decorated police officer for the City of Shreveport, putting her safety and concern before every other citizen in this great city. She is an advocate for remembering fallen (and fellow) officers. Every year, she volunteers her time to help promote the annual Dean-Williams 5k in May. It is a 5k in remembrance and honor of police officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty, most recently Thomas LaValley. Every year, she is captain of the LA Law Heroes, which is a group of officers and civilians who raise money for the children of St Jude. She conducts various fund raisers and promotes awareness of childhood cancer by honoring local children who are fighting for their lives. Lastly, Diana is a supporter of the Special Olympics. She organizes the Torch Run every year, which carries the Special Olympics torch through the SBC into the neighboring parish on its way to Lafayette. In spite of all her volunteer work, she is an avid runner, encouraging adults and children to be active. With multiple half marathons and marathons under her belt, she is a member of the local running groups, USAFit Shreveport and Red River Road Runners. I could go on about what a great person she is, but I'm sure it's evident at the point. I can think of no one better deserving of this award and I hope you will agree. :)
