Each week, Gary and Bristol shine the light on one of our local residents who help to make Kiss Country the greatest place in the world to live, and this week, our recipient is Michael McCullough. When we saw this week's nomination letter, which was submitted by Mr. Mike's neighbor and friend, Melissa Johnson, we knew we had to get in contact with him. Take a look at the letter Melissa wrote:

In 2016, I moved in next door to "Mr. Mike" McCullough and his wife. Little did I know, they would become like family. Mr. Mike has spent the last 8 years being one of the best neighbors and friends anyone could ever ask for and I couldn't have picked better if I'd hand picked him. He had no idea when I moved in that he would become a chicken chasing, goat roping, rogue rabbit feeding grandpa to my 6 year old.

You see, Mr. Mike doesn't have grandchildren of his own but he has adopted my little as his own and the two are best buds. I can call on him at any time and he doesn't even ask what craziness is afoot, he just comes running. The beauty of it is that he answers the call for anyone who needs him. I recently had to ask him if he could meet the school bus as I didn't think I would be home in time and without hesitation he said, "Absolutely!" It was pouring rain that day and I felt horrible that Mr. Mike was going to have to get out in the downpour. I actually worked it out and was going to be there in time to meet the bus but when I let Mr. Mike know, he was disappointed and asked if he could please still meet the bus. His wife had baked chocolate chip cookies and he was making Cody's favorite, hot cocoa. I watched with a full heart from the window as Mr. Mike waded to the bus with his umbrella to make sure Cody stayed dry. He is always willing to be part of whatever adventure awaits.

Respected military veteran, role model and cherished friend, to fence mender and pie tin target maker...Mr. Mike is the absolute best and we are so honored to have him in our lives. He doesn't know it but he means the world to us.

Thank you for being so amazing, Mr. Mike! And because you've been "Caught in the Act," the gang at Silver Star has a $100 gift certificate for you!

Take a listen to the phone call we made to Mr. Mike to let him know that he was this week's Kiss Country Caught in the Act Award recipient.
