Crystal Thurman – This Week’s Caught in the Act Award Recipient

Crystal Thurman cares!  She's the type of person we'd all like to be when we grow up and she's this week's Caught in the Act Award recipient!

When we say Crystal "cares," that's really an understatement.  She's a caregiver and definitely a person we'd all like to have watching out for our parents as they begin to age.

Just read the nomination letter we received from Lori Houston and you'll understand why Crystal was a shoe in for this week's award.

I live 1000 miles from my sweet daddy and wish I could be with him every day but cannot. My dad has dementia as well as other health issues which kept him hospitalized for months. In the hospital daddy was often scared because he would forget where he was or if his wife had left him if she went home for 30 minutes to shower. Above all else we did not want him to feel abandoned or scared so we hired several sitters. When the inevitable happens and your parent can’t take care of themselves we all pray for God to send us a miracle. Although all of the sitters were good, my miracle’s name is Crystal Thurman. With her help he was able to go home. The first week Crystal showed up with her favorite recipes and asked for my step mom and dad to pick out things she could cook for them. She makes lunch and dinners easily heated after she is gone. She helps them with everything from coo king to gardening. I mentioned to her once how much I knew my dad missed attending church. Since that day he has not missed a Sunday. I mentioned once that my dad and I loved fishing and I hoped I could get him somewhere to catch a fish the next time I am in town. The next day I got text pictures of my dad catching brim as fast as Crystal could bait his hook. Crystal in the mother of four wonderful children. Here school age children are all on the honor roll at their school. I will say it again, Crystal is our miracle from God and I will love her forever.

Crystal Thurman, thank you for being one of the biggest reasons why this is the greatest place in America to live!
