Brad Smith Receives This Week’s Caught in the Act Award

I've always said that the biggest blessings in my life, besides my wife and kids, have been the people that the Good Lord placed in my life.  And Brad Smith is one of those guys.

I've known Brad and his brother Gary my entire life and when Bristol and I saw that Brad had been nominated for the Caught in the Act Award, it was one of the few times that I could personally testify to just how awesome an individual was that we were about to celebrate.

Course, that didn't stop me from almost choking up when I saw Brad's nomination letter from his daughter, Kendall Riggs.

If there is anyone deserving of this award it'd be my daddy, Brad Smith. He is always helping others and making sure every one else is taken care of before himself. He has given vehicles to people when they didn't have a car, he takes a bunch of kids hunting and fishing every year when it's time, he volunteers to cook for multiple occasions, when I was getting my hair done one time my hair dressers brother in law was headed back home to dallas so he could go to work in the morning & he was broke down in tyler, Texas with his kid's Christmas gifts in his truck. Getting it towed would be a big expense right around Christmas time, so I was thinking to myself if that was my husband with my kids Christmas gifts in the truck I would hope someone could come and help. I knew my dad would say yes. He's retired now so he doesn't do anything..... (just kidding!!) so I called him up and the conversation went like this. "Hey Dad what are you doing" he said "washing dishes" ha! And I told him the story about the guy. Not even an hour later he was headed to tyler, Tx to help this guy he didn't even know. He got in his truck and took a trailer and helped this guy out and brought him all the way back here and helped him fix his truck so he could make it to work the following morning. Those are just a FEW reasons my dad, Brad Smith deserves this award. He probably would say he doesn't deserve it. But I know he does. He helps everyone around him if he knows them or doesn't. You make me proud to be your daughter, Dad! That's why I think he is so deserving of this award.

Brad Smith, thank you for being one of the "good guys" and a big reason why this is the greatest place in America to live!
