Aww memories! I have so many memories of growing up right here in Shreveport/Bossier that I will treasure forever, but there are some things we simply can't do anymore.

Remember when you could get a mixed drink in the drive thru at Thrifty? I understand why that can't happen anymore, but you can still grab a plethora of different flavored frozen daiquiris, with tape over the hole where you would insert your straw to prevent you from drinking and driving, of course!

Remember the old K&B Drug Stores? I remember visiting the one on Kings in Shreveport regularly when I moved back for the first time in 1996. It was right around the corner from the house I rented in Highland and they had everything, including a crazy liquor selection, which made K&B a stop for many, especially before Saturday night LSU games in Death Valley. (FYI, K&B sold to Rite Aid in 1997)

We also had some amazing restaurants! I had totally forgotten about Nanking in downtown Shreveport before coming across 10 Things You Can't Do in Louisiana Anymore... But Wish You Could at OnlyInYourState.com. Does anyone else remember the old Teddy Bear Den on Barksdale Boulevard? I could spend hours in there checking out all of the elaborately dressed bears and noshing down on the mushroom swiss burger!

How about the old Hayride Kitchen on Benton Road? That was definitely family dining at it's finest to me at the time! Of course, I couldn't take a trip down memory lane without including Pancho's Mexican Restaurant in the Heart of Bossier. My dad used to my best friend Rebekah and I on Saturday's and they would have jalapeno eating contests. Of course, I was focused on that silly flag you raised when you needed service and their big fluffy sopapillas and the big jugs of honey!

Now that I have you reminiscing, check out the list that OnlyInYourState.com came up with and see if you can come up with any more lost treasures in the comments section below! Maybe, next time I'll tell you about the crazy parties we used to have at Bodcau Dam in high school!

P.S... I was totally remiss in not including Hamel's Amusement Park. The Log Ride... 'Nuff said!
