And for some, that forecast is more ominous as the possibility of more flooding for the area is considered by the National Weather Service in Shreveport.

On the heels of the recent flooding around Cross Lake, Caddo Lake and Wallace Lake, residents should again prepare for the possible deluge that could hit our area.

The National Weather Service has issued a statement regarding the possibility of more flooding for Northwest Louisiana, Northeast Texas and Southwest Arkansas.

Thunderstorms will be possible Wednesday over the area, but will increase in coverage and intensity after daybreak Thursday in advance of an approaching upper level disturbance. Locally heavy rainfall will be possible Thursday, which may result in flooding of low lying, poor drainage areas, especially given the already saturated soils. Scattered thunderstorms will remain possible across the region Friday through Sunday, before becoming more isolated Monday.

Due to these threats, the National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch that will begin at 1:00 am tomorrow (Thursday, May 2) and continue through 7:00 pm tomorrow night.

In the Flood Watch for most of the Arklatex area, the NWS states that a complex of showers and thunderstorms is expected to develop this evening over Central Texas, and quickly shift east across East Texas late tonight and into North Louisiana by and after daybreak Thursday.

Locally heavy rainfall is possible with these storms, with widespread rainfall amounts of one to three inches expected, with isolated higher amounts possible.

Grounds remain saturated in wake of heavy rainfall that fell Sunday night and Monday, and with this additional rainfall quickly running off, there is a possibility of flash flooding.
