Did any of our communities in the Shreveport/Bossier City area make Nick Johnson's list of the 10 most redneck places in Louisiana?

Who knew that dollar stores and Walmart Super Centers were part of the 'redneck equation?' Bars, graduation rates, smoke shops, and mobile homes were also taken into consideration when compiling the list... However, I don't think Shreveport deserves to top the list. Have you been to any of those small towns along the coast? Oh wait, I have seen camo at church before... bummer!

10. Pearl River - Pearl River is located in St. Tammany Parish outside of New Orleans and during the last census in 2010 boasted a population of 2,506. When you look up things to do in Pearl River, it lists swamps and kayaking.
9. Franklinton - Franklinton is another small Louisiana town in Washington Parish with the last census clocking the population at 3,857. Attractions include the Varnado Grocery Store Museum and Woodcut Funhouse according to Trip Advisor.

8. Bogalusa - Bogalusa is practically a bustling metropolis compared to our first two with a population of 12,232 in Washington Parish. Trip 101 suggests visiting the First Pentecostal Church if you come to town and the Bogalusa Branch Library.

7. West Monroe - Finally we venture to north Louisiana's Ouachita Parish for West Monroe population 12,431. Did you know West Monroe was where Delta Airlines originated and its also where the first-ever Coca-Cola bottle plant was? You learn something new every day!

6. Ponchatoula - Ponchatoula, located in Tangipahoa Parish, has a population of 7,371, good for the ranking of second largest town in Tangipahoa Parish. Ponchatoula is famous for it's Strawberry Festival each spring is considered one of the fastest-growing areas of Louisiana.

4. Alexandria - 'Alec' as most locals call Alexandria is the 9th largest city in the state with a population of 153,922 in Rapides Parish. Things to do include the Alexandria Zoological Park and the Alexandria Museum of Art according to Trip Advisor.

3. Independence - Did you know Independence, located in Tangipahoa Parish, used to be called Big Sam? True story! The population is 1,665 and Louisiana Travel says the event you want to check out is their annual Italian Festival and Amato's, a Louisiana native winery.

2. Amite City - Amite City sits about halfway between New Orleans and Jackson, MS in Tangipahoa Parish with a population of 4,141. Area activities include the Tangipahoa Parish Fair, their annual Amite Oyster Festival, and seafood at Mike's Catfish Inn according to Trip 101.

1. Shreveport - I'm STILL trying to figure out how Shreveport ended up on this list! With a population of 187,112 and located in Caddo Parish, there are a ton of things to do that include your typical redneck activities like the Shreveport Ballet, Opera and Symphony. Plus, you can't go wrong with Sci-Port Discovery Center and all of our museums. I don't get it!
