You know when you see The Weather Channel in your town, it's time to take cover. However, we do things a little bit differently in Louisiana... This poor report for TWC was trying to do a live shot in Monroe, LA when redneck craziness started taking place behind him. Granted, he tried to move, but this dedicated donut maker wasn't having it. Check it out!

I think we call all agree that this weather has been insane and we hope you stay safe, happy, healthy, and warm! Be careful! Round two of this crazy winter weather is supposed to hit tonight!

Thus far, we've been able to avoid mass power outages, so make sure to decrease your energy consumption so that SWEPCO isn't forced to do planned outages like that had to start doing in our area this morning around 7 am. Here are some easy tips to help conserve energy thanks to the Bowie-Cass Electric Cooperative Facebook page:

  • Turn thermostats to 68-degrees or below.

  • Turn off and unplug all non-essential electric appliances.

  • Avoid using any large appliances like washing machines, dryers, dishwashers, etc.

  • Large electricity consumers should consider shutting down or reducing non-essential production processes.

  • If you do have an outage, please turn off the HVAC unit. This will help reduce high load as we try to restore. We know you want to get heat as soon as possible, but we are asking members to leave their heaters off for at least 20 minutes after power is restored.
