Here are the ‘Experts’ Who Picked Georgia to Upset LSU

A number of so-called college football "experts" are in full retreat after picking the Georgia Bulldogs to knock off the LSU Tigers in Saturday's Southeast Conference football championship in Atlanta, a game won handily by the LSU, 37-10.

At the top of that list is alleged legendary analyst, Paul Finebaum. Late last week, on his daily television show, told his usual panel of pundits, "...Georgia will have a couple of things in their favor, including home field advantage. It'll be about 70% Georgia fans."

And the Birmingham-based Finebaum wasn't done...with getting it wrong. "(Georgia's) defense is as good as any in the country and Joe Burrow, the presumptive Heisman favorite, has not seen anything quite like this."

In that game LSU's senior signal caller completed 28 of 38 passing attempts for 349 yards and 4 touchdowns.

And ESPN's college football analyst Desmond Howard was no better with the crystal ball. "I'll tell you what, this is going to be a challenge for Joe Burrow and this offense. They love to get after the quarterback. They create turnovers. I like the Bulldogs' defense a lot."

After scoring 14 first quarter points against the vaunted Bulldogs defense, the Tigers added a field goal in the second, then tacked on 20 more second half points in a game that for all intents and purposes was over ten minutes into the contest.

And the top-ranked Tigers next challenge? The national championship semi-final game against Oklahoma on December 28. Coach Ed Orgeron's team is an early 13 point favorite against the number four ranked Sooners.
