Forget the Coach Search: It’s Time for LSU’s Annual Bama Hate Week
It was just announced that LSU finally has a new president. He's Wade Rousse, the former president of McNeese State University, and his plate is already full.

Speaking at his first press conference as new president, Rousse stated that he's hit the ground running and is already involved in the search for a new football coach. Of that, Rousse said, "I plan on meeting with our acting AD as quickly as I can, possibly as soon as tonight and get involved as aggressively as I can."
Of course, filling that coaching position is paramount, but so is the selection of a new Athletic Director for our SEC powerhouse LSU Tigers.

Many have speculated that LSU is trying to make itself as attractive as necessary to coax a return of former head coach, Nick Saban. Even, Shaquille O'Neal has hinted there might be merit to this rumor.
With his proven track record, that move could be the stuff football dreams are made of. However, it's highly unlikely that the position will be filled prior to the end of this season and with several games left and the hopes of winning enough to secure a bowl berth, we need our players and staff focused on the task at hand.
LSU Must Focus On The Task At Hand And This Week Is Bama Hate Week
And that immediate task is none other than Nick Saban's former team the Alabama Crimson Tide. So, for the purple and gold nation, it's Bama Hate Week.
The LSU/Bama rivalry was likely sparked by Saban after his departure from LSU and his emergence as head coach at Alabama, but these two teams have locked horns for years.
LSU has played the University of Alabama in football since 1895 and they've played each other annually since 1964. LSU will host Alabama again in 2026, but there will be no contest between the two in 2027, so the rivalry could fade somewhat.
Many Have Wondered About LSU's Possibilities Had Nick Saban Never Left
Some wonder what dynasty LSU might have become if Nick had never left Baton Rouge. That's probably the cornerstone of Bama Hate Week. The curiosity of what might have been.
Should he return to LSU, we might get an answer to that question. Regardless of that decision, the rivalry between these two continues and nearly LSU fan gets in on the funny action of the week!
