While, at present, there are no Buc-ee's Travel Centers in the Bayou State, construction is underway for the first two locations in Ruston and Lafayette.

The First Buc-ee's Store Was Opened In The Small Town of Clute, Texas in 1982

For those unaware of this incredible story of retail travel superstardom, the first Buc-ee's opened nearly forty five years ago, in Clute, Texas, in 1982 by founder Arch "Beaver" Aplin III.

Since then, the chain has grown to over fifty massive travel centers spanning Texas and multiple states like Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina, Kentucky, Missouri, and Arkansas.

While the rest of the south was being ushered into the "Buc-ee's Age", it appeared there was no love for Louisiana; until 2023, when the announcement came about the Ruston location. Following, in December 2024, plans for the Lafayette location were announced by city officials.

And now, we are within months of seeing the iconic beaver along Louisiana's two highest traveled east-west interstates, I-20 and I-10.

2027 Will See The Opening Of Louisiana's First Two Buc-ee's on I-20 and I-10

The first Louisiana location for Buc-ee's will be located just off I-20 near Tarbutton Road in Ruston. This 53,000-square-foot store with 120 gas pumps is expected to open in Spring/Mid-2027.

Construction of the Lafayette Buc-ee's has run into multiple construction delays and its original 2026 opening has been pushed back to July of 2027. This larger 74,000-square-foot store will also feature 120 gas pumps and will be located just off I-10 near Louisiana Avenue.

Both of the new locations in Louisiana will reportedly create hundreds of jobs with starting wages ranging between $18 to $23 per hour with General Managers knocking down between $175,000 and $225,000.
