What’s going on across Shreveport and Bossier City this Memorial Day weekend? The last day of school for many students was yesterday which means summers here. Here’s what happening this weekend in Kiss Country!

Mudbug Madness: Going on through Sunday at Shreveport’s Festival Plaza. The annual event will feature crawfish eating and calling contests for all ages, street performers, children’s activity areas, and a Louisiana arts marketplace featuring original paintings, carvings, jewelry and crafts. Admission to the festival is free until 5 p.m. on Friday. (more)

Muddy Bottoms: The ATV/ RV park in Sarepta officially opened yesterday. Saturday Night Kevin Fowler and Justin Moore will be taking the stage. (more)

Talimena Rally “Cruisin’ For St. Jude” Motorcycle Rally: Cancer entered the lives of Neil and Janice Jones of Hooks, Texas in 2007 when Janice was diagnosed with colon cancer. Together Neil and Janice endured the pain and hardship that cancer brings and neither could imagine what that pain might be like from the parents of a sick child. So, it was with those children in mind, they decided they would do what they could to fund cancer research. (more)

Bossier Sheriff’s Office to Conduct Sobriety Checkpoint: Friday evening into Saturday morning, May 23-24, at an undisclosed location in Bossier Parish. (more)

New Movies: “X-Men: Days of Future Past” and “Blended”. Just in time for Memorial Day the X-Men are back! The 7th installment of the franchise is taking on Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, in their third romantic comedy together. (more)
