Caddo Sheriff Wants All Your Old Drugs This Saturday
Just one week ago, America celebrated National Clean Out Your Medicine Cabinet Day, and if you indeed participated, you might now be facing another issue.
What will you do with all those old prescription drugs? Please don't be one who takes the easy route and flush them down the toilet. The potential danger they pose to our ecosystem through the septic system is unfathomable.
Instead, Caddo Sheriff Jay long has provided a safe alternative to dispose of those unneeded medications with a "Drug Take Back Day."
The Sheriff says citizens can dispose of unwanted prescription drugs on Saturday, April 27, at Sheriff's Safety Town. The event is part of the National Drug Take Back Day, hosted twice each year by the Drug Enforcement Administration.
The Caddo Sheriff's Office, in cooperation with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), will be collecting old, unwanted, and expired pharmaceutical controlled substances and other medications from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm.
This event will be held at Sheriff's Safety Town, 8910 Jewella Avenue at the west end of the Summer Grove parking lot and will be free of charge.
Deputies will be on hand to collect and properly dispose of prescription and over-the-counter medications, such as tablets, capsules, and sealed liquids. All identifying information such as name, address, and prescription number should be removed. Intra-venous solutions, injectables, and needles will not be accepted.
If you are unable to attend the event at Safety Town this Saturday, you can still utilize the drug dropbox. It's located on the first floor at Government Plaza, 505 Travis Street.
"The dropbox is available every weekday from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm", said Sheriff Jay Long.
