Warning! One Lane Of Jimmie Davis Bridge Closed Tonight
It was supposed to have happened last Thursday, October 10, but the project had to be postponed, and tonight is the night.
The project in question is all part of the construction of the new Jimmie Davis Bridge over Red River between Shreveport and Bossier City.
The contractor needs to mobilize equipment in order to pour concrete for the test shaft for the new bridge and that requires the westbound lane of the LA 511 (Jimmie Davis Bridge) to be closed.
According to the notice from the DOTD, that westbound lane will be closed from approximately 9:00 pm to 6:00 am tonight, Wednesday, October 16.
The bridge will remain open to traffic, with vehicles allowed through via the use of flagging operations.
Of course, the work will be done weather permitting, so even though it's unlikely, inclement weather could delay, extend or alter the scheduled work day/hours.
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.
Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
