Bailey Cardenas Is Latest Caught in the Act Award Winner

Full disclosure about this week's recipient of the Kiss Country Caught in the Act Award. Not only do I know this beautiful young woman, I've loved her since she came into the world.

She is my niece, Bailey Cardenas, and she was nominated by my wife, Julie McCoy, for this incredible award. It's not often that I actually have personal knowledge about the true "goodness" of our nominees, but for Bailey, I can personally attest to how incredible she is.

Anyone who has ever had the fortune to cross paths with Bailey can testify that she is one of the kindest souls God ever placed on Earth. Without doubt, she is a beautiful angel, and living proof that the Good Lord loves us since he was kind enough to bless us with her.

Boy! Where to start with this amazing person. Bailey is remarkable is so many ways, but I will touch on the highlights. In January 2026, our family got devastating news regarding her mother, my sister, had a rare form of cancer that was terminal. The devastation took our family down to our knees to pray for the unknowns that were ahead. Though Bailey has a busy career of her own, she’s mom to one of the cutest toddlers with a personality that warms your heart, she’s wife to a busy veterinarian, she still moved into her parent's house so she could help take care of her sick mom. It required a lot of time, details, lists, assistance and SUPPORT. In August, when Linda passed away, Bailey, though heartbroken, took charge and made sure her mother was honored in all ways. Well, a week later my son, her cousin, was getting married. As excited as I was that my baby boy was getting married to a beautiful young woman, there was a lot to do. I began to get things laid out, ready to decorate, etc and still feeling the heavy devastation of losing my best friend just a week earlier. Well, out of the blue, Bailey stepped up and said I will help. She not only helped me decorate for the rehearsal dinner, she jumped into the Louisiana hot, humid weather and came to decorate for the wedding with me. Where she basically saved her JuJu, is she became the wedding coordinator for the rehearsal and day of wedding. NO ONE knew what they were doing, how to do it. She stepped in and saved the day. I couldn't have done this day without her. She was just lke her mother with her take charge personality and made me and her mom so proud. She thinks it was nothing, but in one of our lowest points of both of our lives, she showed up in a way that meant more to me than I could have ever asked. I know her mother was proud of her and even though I was missing my sister that day, she was definitely there through Bailey. Bailey was my hero that day and every day. This JuJu loves her Bailey Sue more than she will ever know.
