DOTD Announces Overnight Closures On Clyde Fant For Bridge Project
When construction of the new Jimmie Davis Bridge over Red River first began in May of 2024, we truly couldn't see the end anywhere in sight.

However, in a recent notice from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, we see the project end is finally coming into focus. With an anticipated completion date of the new four-lane bridge in mid to late 2027, and the entire project (linear park included) expected to wrap up in late 2028, it's exciting to read that the project is staying on schedule and officials will soon begin the next phase of construction.
In the next construction phase of new $361 million bridge, deck pouring operations will begin, but this will come at a slight, short-term cost for area drivers.

To begin the phase, DOTD announces the need to close Clyde Fant Parkway southbound tomorrow night, Thursday, October 1, from approximately 10:00 pm to 10:00 am on Friday, October 2nd.
The northbound side of Clyde Fant Parkway will also need to be closed, but for only three hours, from approximately 4:00 am to 7:00 am, on Friday, October 2nd.

Advance warning signage is now in place alerting motorists of the planned road closure. Traffic wishing to travel on Clyde Fant will be detoured over the existing bridge and onto Arthur Ray Teague Parkway to the Shreveport-Barksdale Bridge.
Motorists are also reminded that other construction activities continue to take place throughout the project, and are urged to use extreme caution while traveling within the work zone. Ongoing intermittent lane closures remain in place as widening and reconstruction continues on the LA 511 approaches to the bridge.
