Personally, I'm still somewhat impressed that finally someone with a position of authority has made it their mission to fix the roads of Northwest Louisiana.

However, I can also understand why some might complain that DOTD could somehow spread this work out instead of doing it all at once. But, I'm of the opinion that if DOTD is willing to spend the money now to fix our roads, then let's do it now.

And that seems to be the case as the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has just announced they'll tackle another I-20 project.

In spite of the fact that I-20 work continues in Bossier City, and probably won't be over several months, DOTD will begin a project that will remove and replace all the pavement markings along a 12 mile stretch of I-20 in Caddo Parish.

In their announcement, DOTD writes that the $419,714 project is scheduled to begin this coming Wednesday, October 22, and includes the removal of all the old striping and raised reflectorized markers, and replacing with all new markings on I-20 from the Texas state line to I-220 in Shreveport.

This work will be restricted to nighttime only to reduce the inconvenience to the traveling public, and involves slow-moving operations along the travel lanes and interchanges.

Motorists should be aware that they may encounter these rolling operations on I-20 nightly between approximately 7:00 pm to 6:00 am, and should drive with caution.

The entire project should wrap up in early 2026, with progress dependent on weather conditions and other factors that can impact construction timelines.

Pavement markings provide continuous information to motorists related to roadway alignment, vehicle positioning, and other important driving-related tasks. Additionally, they indicate which part of the road to use, provide information about conditions ahead, and indicate where passing is allowed.
