Arklatex Area Under Extreme Heat Warning as Temps Soar
The National Weather Service in Shreveport isn't mincing words. According to these forecasters, today's expected heat is downright dangerous to anyone working outdoors.

For that reason, the NWS has issued an Extreme Heat Warning for the entire Arkltex area that begins at 10:00 am today, Tuesday, August 19, and will continue through 8:00 pm this evening.
According to this warning, dangerously hot conditions are expected today with possible heat index values as high as 114 degrees.
To shed a little extra light on just how hot it's expected to be today, the Weather Channel is forecasting that the Shreveport area will see a high of 102 with humidity at 81%. That easily explains the rationale for some concern for local residents; especially those who work outdoors, the elderly, and those forced to brave these conditions without the comforts of air conditioning.
This warning is for portions of south central and southwest Arkansas, north central and northwest Louisiana, and northeast Texas.
