According to the Detroit Free Press this past Friday, a Detroit EMT was in the midst of performing CPR on a heart attack victim in the back of an ambulance on the way to the hospital when he too, started having chest pains.

As it turned out, Hardman was also having a heart attack.  But instead of succumbing to his own needs, he managed to help the other EMT aboard the ambulance handle all of their patient's needs and deliver him to the hospital's cardiac unit.

Along with the other patient, doctors immediately started treating Hardman when he arrived in the emergency room.  Apparently he had a blockage in an artery artery referred to as the "widow maker" as most patients never survive it.

Luckily, Joseph did survive, and doctors say it was simply because of how quickly he was able to arrive at the hospital for cardiac emergency care.  In fact, his doctor says he should be back at work in a few months.

And his patient also survived!!  Ironically, Joseph ended up three beds down from him after they were admitted.
