More Lane Closures Soon With Jimmie Davis Bridge Construction

However, it's the time until then that could make for some incredible traffic headaches during the construction process.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has just announced a couple more of those construction related issues that will likely have motorists searching for alternative routes in the coming days.

The first of two additional lane closures is scheduled for this coming Friday, May 24 when then southbound outside lane of Clyde Fant Parkway in Shreveport at the Jimmie Davis Bridge overpass will be closed.

This lane closure is necessary to allow for the installation of temporary concrete barriers on the outside shoulder in preparation for construction of the new bridge. This lane closure is scheduled to take place from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm and is anticipated to last one day.

Then, the second of these lane closures has been scheduled for Monday, Memorial Day, May 27, when the southbound outside lane of Arthur Ray Teague in Bossier City will be closed from the Brookshire Grocery Arena to the Jimmie Davis Bridge overpass.

This lane closure is necessary to allow for the removal of guardrail, clearing and grubbing, and embankment operations for the new bridge.

This lane closure is scheduled to remain in place until Saturday, June 8.

As with all projects from the LA DOTD, this work will be performed weather permitting, so inclement weather could cause postponements or extensions to the proposed work schedule.
