Stretch of Busy Bossier Road to be Closed For Full Week
For the strangest reason, the Church Lady character from Saturday Night Live came to mind when we first saw the announcement from the DOTD.
"Well, isn't that special." That was my first reaction to the DOTD's advisement to motorists that things were about to get even more complicated with the most recent phase of the I-20 reconstruction project in Bossier City.
So, what was the announcement? It's a doozie for anyone who lives, works or regularly travels in Bossier on or near Old Minden Road.
Beginning this coming Tuesday, June 18, both directions of LA 72 (Old Minden Road) near the I-20 interchange will be closed.
This closure is scheduled to last for approximately one week, and is necessary to allow for the relocation of a water line and installation of a pipe related to the ongoing I-20 major rehabilitation project.
Access to local driveways and streets will be maintained during the road closure. Through traffic will need to utilize an alternate route as this is a total road closure at the specified location. All vehicles traveling through on Old Minden Road will need to detour.
Of course, all work will be performed weather permitting, so inclement weather could delay, extend or modify the expected days or length of construction time.
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
