Traffic traveling through the small Webster Parish Town of Sibley came to a complete halt late Thursday afternoon.

According to an emergency announcement from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, effective immediately, US 371 in both directions, north and south, in the Town of Sibley, is closed due to a water leak that is impacting the integrity of the roadway.

DOTD says that motorists need to be aware that this closure is located near the intersection of SE. 4th Street in Sibley.

At this time, there is no timeline on reopening of the roadway. The water line will need to be repaired by the Town of Sibley, and repairs made to the roadway.

DOTD will issue an update when additional information is available.

This is a total road closure at the specified location. All vehicles will need to utilize an alternate route, and detour signage will be in place.

This work will be done, weather permitting, so inclement weather could delay, extend or alter any projected work days/hours.
