While we should be focusing on the positives of all the road improvements being made, when all of them are going on at once, it's hard to overlook the negatives.

Take Bossier City for example. Most are well aware of the I-20 reconstruction project that has slowed traffic in Bossier City to snail's pace.

In conjunction with that, beginning Wednesday, May 29, the I-20 on and off-ramps at LA 72 (Old Minden Road) will be closed to allow the contractor to remove the existing pavement and roadway base, and replace with new base and concrete. This applies to the ramps in both directions.

Additionally, beginning this Monday, May 27, the southbound outside lane of Arthur Ray Teague in Bossier City will be closed from the Brookshire Grocery Arena to the Jimmie Davis Bridge overpass to allow for the removal of guardrail, clearing and grubbing, and embankment operations for the new Jimmie Davis bridge construction.

And now, we get the word from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development that beginning on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at 9:00 a.m., the northbound and southbound lanes inside (left) lanes of LA 3 (Benton Road) in Bossier City will be closed from Montgomery Lane to Ashland Avenue.

These lane closures are scheduled to be in place for approximately three weeks, and are necessary to allow the contractor to construct turn lanes related to the Walter O. Bigby Carriageway project that is currently under construction.

So, while it's a good thing that the roads are getting the attention they deserve, it's really getting hard to move around in the confines of Bossier City.

As with all DOTD projects, this work will be performed weather permitting, so inclement weather could delay or extend expected work days/hours.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
