Kiss Country Weekend Events September 5-7

Lots of things going on this weekend in our neck of the woods, so let's get this party started.  

Of course, the biggest event of them all will be our own "Zombie Run 5K."  The 3.1 mile run filled with "Zombie" obstacles will begin at 5:30 pm at the Clyde Fant Bicycle Trail across from Sci Port and will end with the post race "Apocalypse Party" at Festival Plaza. Get all your race info HERE.

Saturday, September 6, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm, the Outdoor Extravaganza will be held at Centurylink Center in Bossier City.   First Baptist Bossier and Cypress Baptist Church are putting on this incredible event that will feature Phil Robertson and his son Alan Robertson!  You’ll also find all your favorite outdoor supplies and hunting interests including all the latest equipment, apparel, UTV and ATV accessories, as well as Duck Commander merchandise at the show.  Additionally, hunters will we treated to a special viewing of the “Trophies of Grace Whitetail Collection,” which has been hailed the largest and best collection of World Record Trophy Bucks.

The 35th annual Super Derby Festival of Racing will be held this Saturday, Sept. 6 at Harrah’s Louisiana Downs in Bossier City.  One of the premiere races for 3-year-old thoroughbreds in North America, the Super Derby attracts many of the top horses, trainers, and riders from around the country to compete in a day of pulse-pounding live racing. Racing begins at 2:50 p.m. and will include a day-long program of top-quality races, concluding with the $400,000, Grade 2 Super Derby.

Of course,  dove season begins Saturday and brand new this year, breaking the age-old tradition of delaying the start until 12:00 pm, hunters will be allowed to take to the field and begin the hunt at 30 minutes before official sunrise local time.  In Bossier Parish, sunrise will be at 6:52 am, so hunters will be allowed to begin shooting at 6:22 am.  Go to sunrisesunset.com to find the exact time for your hunting destination.

For LSU fans, the Tigers will see action tomorrow night at 6:30 pm when they take on Sam Houston State.  The game will be on the radio on 1130 The Tiger and will be televised on the SEC Network.

And finally, we have one new movie in theaters this week.  ‘The Identical’ will make its debut and in this feature, Ryan Wade looks and sounds just like legendary rock singer Drexel Helmsley (who bears a striking resemblance to Elvis Presley), but his mom and dad want him to join a ministry instead of starting a career as a rock-and-roller.  It stars Blake Rayne, Ray Liotta, Ashley Judd, Seth Green.  Get movie times HERE.
