35th Annual Harrah’s Louisiana Downs Super Derby This Saturday, Sept. 6

It's Super Derby Week in Northwest Louisiana!  The 35th annual Super Derby Festival of Racing will be held this Saturday, Sept. 6 at Harrah’s Louisiana Downs in Bossier City.

One of the premiere races for 3-year-old thoroughbreds in North America, the Super Derby attracts many of the top horses, trainers, and riders from around the country to compete in a day of pulse-pounding live racing. Racing begins at 2:50 p.m. and will include a day-long program of top-quality races, concluding with the $400,000, Grade 2 Super Derby.

In addition to live racing, the day also features a variety of giveaways, contests and promotions. There will be a kids’ play area with bounce houses, a Celebrity Donut Eating Contest, a free handicapping seminar at 11 a.m. and a meet-and-greet with the Super Derby jockeys at 12 p.m. A popular tradition, the Super Derby Hat Contest will award prizes in three categories: Spirit of Louisiana, Classic and Most Original.
