John May Is This Week’s Caught in the Act Recipient
Even after the death of his beautiful wife, John May's love for his step daughters continues to be a driving force in their family.
Chelsea Page wrote to tell us of this incredible man in her life. He's her stepdad, John May.
And her description of John's kindness, even through his own tragedy of losing the love of his life, left us in awe of this incredible man.
Just look at that nomination letter and you'll easily understand why John May is this week's recipient of the Kiss Country Caught in the Act Award.
I would like to tell you about my step dad, John May. He has been with the Caddo Sherrif's Department for 17 years. He's worked very hard for a community for a very long time, but he's more than just that. He married my mother on November 16th of 2016. He stood by her side while still serving his community. Until she passed away on February 6th, 2022. When she passed away, it was hard on all of us, especially my dad John. But instead of pulling away, this man works every night. And has been here for me every day to help me through. Sometimes it's just a simple text to my sister and I. Sometimes it's just a note to have a wonderful day with a funny quote. Or a quote out of the Bible. Other days he goes entirely out of his way and drives an hour or so to see me, or do me a favor. He has stepped up for me in a way that my mom would be so proud. I’m so grateful for him. The term stepdad does not sit right with me whenever it comes to him because even though I already have a dad, he makes me realize it's okay to have two!!! He is my biggest supporter and I want to thank him for all he does, so I really hope that you consider him for this award. Because he's not only a hero for Shreveport. He is a hero to me!!!
John May, because you've been 'Caught in the Act' the gang at Magnolia Pit Barbecue have a $50 Gift Certificate for you to come have dinner on them!
Take a listen to the phone call we made to John to let him know that he was this week's Caught In The Act Award recipient.
