An ice cream brand based in Toronto that is being accused of blasphemy by Christians is attempting to further expand into the United States.

The brand, called Sweet Jesus, has nineteen shops in and around Toronto and one based in Baltimore, MD according to their website. According to Fox News, the company would like to expand more. However, some are offended by the business.

First off, you have the name 'Sweet Jesus.' As a Christian, we know, you should not take the Lord's name in vain. The company has posted a response to this criticism on their website saying:

Our name was created from the popular phrase that people use as an expression of enjoyment, surprise or disbelief. Our aim is not to offer commentary on anyone’s religion or belief systems, Our own organization is made up of amazing people that represent a wide range of cultural and religious beliefs.

Second, a lot of us are offended by a company using the Lord to sell something... especially something as pedestrian as soft serve ice cream.

Furthermore, if you look further at the company's branding, you'll notice inverted crosses and a different font in the middle 's' in the word Jesus, reminiscent of the font used by 'Satanic' heavy metal bands.

Is this company Santanic? I don't know, but I doubt it. Is their name in bad taste? Without a doubt. Is their branding in question? They've gone too far. At least the upside down cross is where they cross the line for me...  So what happens if Sweet Jesus decides to put an ice cream parlor in Shreveport/Bossier? Would you go? After all, it's so good, it's supposed to 'Bless your mouth!' Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
