
Hurricane Isaac – Flooding Over Levees In Plaquemines Parish
As we follow the progression of Hurricane Isaac we have learned that at least 18 miles of levees in Plaquemines Parish have been over-topped by water. It is reported that there is 10-12 feet of flood waters in Plaquemines Parish. Isaac's wrath is being felt in New Orleans this morning as well.

6:10 a.m. Wednesday: Entergy now says 434,500 without power in SE Louisiana.
6:00 a.m. Wednesday: NHC says Isaac still a hurricane. Winds 80 mph and located about 50 miles SSW of New Orleans. Dangerous storm surge and flooding continue, and likely to get worse.
5:45 a.m. Wednesday: TORNADO WARNING: NWS meteorologists detect possible tornado 14 miles southeast of Pascagoula, Miss, moving northwest at 60 mph.
5:30 a.m. Wednesday: Widespread and significant street flooding in downtown New Orleans, according to the NWS.
5:25 a.m. Wednesday: Wind gust to 72 mph in downtown New Orleans.
5:20 a.m. Wednesday: There have been reports of 10 to 12 feet of water in Plaquemines Parish, CNN reported Wednesday morning.
4:45 a.m. Wednesday: At 4:20 AM CDT, law enforcement reported 5 feet of water in the woodlawn fire department 3 miles WNW of Belle Chasse, LA.
4:30 a.m. Wednesday: Flash Flood Emergency for East Bank of Upper Plaquemines Parish, LA. Severe flooding due to over-topped levees.
3:50 a.m. Wednesday: The NWS and WAFB report that a 18-mile stretch of levee in Plaquemines Parish has been over-topped. Evacuations underway.
3:20 a.m. Wednesday: Isaac has made a second landfall near Port Fourchon, LA and is no longer stationary. Movement is to the NW at 8 mph.
2:45 a.m. Wednesday: Entergy and Cleco now reporting 337,000 total customers without electricity across SE Louisiana.
2:30 a.m. Wednesday: At 1:40 AM CDT, a wind gust of 113 mph was measured at Belle Chasse Ferry Dock in Plaquemines Parish, LA.
2:00 a.m. Wednesday: Flash Flood Warning in effect for New Orleans through at least 3:45AM CDT. Isaac remains stationary.
