Get Free Pancakes From IHOP on National Pancake Day
Okay, cool your jets. Before running into IHOP today screaming "I want my pancakes," just keep telling yourself, it's not until next Tuesday.
Though today is Mardi Gras or Fat Tuesday, the day also has a number of other monikers including Shrove Tuesday and Pancake Day.
Pancake Day came about as the day immediately preceding Ash Wednesday, which is the first day of the Lenten season, when people actually celebrate a day of excess and in some countries, that "excess" is the consumption of pancakes.
However, the gang at IHOP apparently didn't want to upset the religious connotations of Pancake Day, so they won't be celebrating until next Tuesday, February 28.
But then it's on!
Now, for the seventeenth year, on IHOP's Pancake Day, from 7:00 am to 7:00pm next Tuesday, as IHOP celebrates their version of Pancake Day, all walk-in customers can enjoy a free short stack of IHOP's famous buttermilk pancakes.
The pancakes are absolutely free, no strings attached. However, IHOP does ask that if you can afford it, they're hoping customers will again give generously to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and other local charities.
The website, chiff.com says that,
Traditionally, more than four million free flapjacks are served on National Pancake Day and more than $3 million raised for charity. In 2023 visitors are expected to top that record at IHOP's nationwide to help the cause of supporting those less fortunate than themselves.
