The Dogwood Trails Festival takes place this Saturday, March 22, in downtown Palestine, Texas.  This year’s theme is “Get Your Kicks on Loop 256” a nostalgic 50’s & 60’s road trip. 

Festival highlights include live music and entertainment, a parade, beer garden, arts & crafts, Kids Zone and much more.

Over 90 arts & crafts and food vendors will be in downtown Palestine from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.  There’s a $1.00 gate charge, children 12 & under are free.  All proceeds from the gate go to support local non-profit organizations.

The Kids Zone will host a variety of games, entertainment and activities for children of all ages.  The Family Stage will be located in the Kids Zone and will host Mago Ali the Magician and the band Phat Johnny and the Buicks.

The parade kicks off at 10:00 am.  It will start at the Anderson County Courthouse and travel down Ave A, turn right onto Main Street ending at Main/Howard Streets.  Groups interested in participating in the parade should contact the Palestine Area Chamber of Commerce at 903-729-6066.

The beer garden and festival bands will be in Old Town Palestine in the Hollow.  The beer garden opens at 11:00 am and the bands hit the Saw Dust Stage starting at 1:00 pm.  Lauren Alexander will play from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm and Phil Pritchett will play from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm.

“The festival is a great way to kick off the three week-ends of the Dogwood Celebration,” said Marc Mitchell Executive Director of the Palestine Area Chamber of Commerce.  “We have great entertainment and activities planned for the whole family.”

New this year is the Doo Wop Cruise at the Anderson County Courthouse Square.  Car enthusiasts are encouraged to bring, and show off, their antique cars or hot rods.  There will be music from the 50’s and 60’s.  This event is from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm and is open and free to the public.
