Benton Road Exit Shut Down Due To Jackknifed 18-Wheeler
For the most part, eastbound traffic on I-220 in Bossier City is flowing smoothly.
There is one big exception to that statement though.
Around 11:00 am today, Wednesday, January 17, a semi-tractor truck exiting I-220 hit some extreme slippery ice near the bottom of the exit ramp and has jackknifed totally blocking the entire exit ramp.
At this writing, the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Department has blocked the entire exit ramp while awaiting a tow truck capable of pulling this track back onto the road.
Obviously, this will likely be a lengthy task as you can see what's ahead of that tow truck by these photos.
Driving conditions across the Arklatex are improving but there are a number of areas still totally covered in ice and extremely dangerous.
From what we discovered, most of these areas are on the less-travelled side roads shaded by trees not allowing sun penetration to melt the ice.
Please use extreme caution if you have to get out in this. Hopefully, as the temperature warms during the course of the next few hours, conditions will improve vastly.
