Whole Foods Market Holding Local 101 Class for Louisiana Vendors

With Whole Foods Market getting ready to open up a location in Shreveport, the grocer's local product forager in Louisiana will lead a Local 101 class for vendors.

Kelly Landrieu will head up the free program Friday, February 27, from 8:30-11:30 a.m. in the Shreveport Convention Center's Red River Ballroom.

According to a news release, the class will cover in-depth information on Whole Foods' quality standards, food safety, retail-ready packaging, regulatory requirements and the process for becoming a supplier.

"I'm thrilled to have Whole Foods Market in our city to offer our citizens yet another option for healthy foods," said Shreveport Mayor Ollie Tyler. "This also creates a tremendous opportunity for small businesses to partner with Whole Foods and get local products on the shelves."

Local 101 is open to "all current and aspiring Louisiana food and lifestyle artisans, manufacturers and producers." Seating is limited, so you need to reserve your spot by emailing louisianalocal@wholefoods.com.
