It's Mardi Gras!!!!  And if you're Catholic, it's your last opportunity to kick up your heels and enjoy before Lent.  According to Ask.com Lent is the Christian season of preparation before Easter. Beginning with the day after Mardi Gras (which literally means Fat Tuesday) Ash Wednesday marks the first day, or the start of the season of Lent, which begins 40 days prior to Easter (Sundays are not included in the count).

The traditional purpose of Lent is the preparation of the believer—through prayer, penance, repentance, almsgiving and self-denial.

Self-Denial.  That's the burr for a lot of people.  Giving up something for 40 days that really means something to them, yet something that even the worst temptations won't cause them to falter.

But we're thinking there are some things that people would just REFUSE to give up for Lent. And most of these are probably just because these people know they'd never make it for the full 40 days.  We asked around here in the building and this is what we found.

  • Julie says she'd never make it without her daily glass of wine
  • Gary says he couldn't make it without his cell phone
  • Chris Evans couldn't do without television
  • Rocky Rhodes couldn't go without coffee
  • Yankee Justin couldn't go a day without video games.  (Figures)
  • Matt the morning traffic guy says his problem is his pipe

Okay, your turn!  What could you never do without for 40 days??
