Barbecue Fundraiser to Aid Combat Wounded Veterans: The Military Order of the Purple Heart Northwest Louisiana Chapter 351 will hold a Barbecue Chicken Fundraiser, Friday, June 6 The sale will be held in the parking lot of Airline High School from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Chicken plates will run $8.00 each (more)

National Fishing and Boating Week With Free Fishing: This week is the official National Fishing and Boating Week. In observance of the celebration, the State of Louisiana will offer its annual Free Fishing Days this weekend, June 7 and 8. During these two days, no one will be required to obtain the normally State-mandated fishing license. (more)

4th Annual Tuff Huff Co-Ed Softball Tournament: Former local baseball stand out and professional player, Danny Huffstickler, fought a courageous bout with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) and it’s in his honor that his friends and family hold an annual co-ed softball tournament. Shreveport Farmers Market: Kicks off Saturday morning at Festival Plaza at 7am features live music, homegrown fruits and vegetables. As well as, jams, jellies, prepared food, art and more. (more)

Vivian Community Wide Rummage Sale: Farmers, gardeners, churches, school and civic clubs and individuals, you’re invited to take part in the Vivian Community Wide Rummage Sale and Farmer’s Market this Saturday, June 7.
