Very seldom do we get to read a letter that actually moves us to tears, but reading Tony's nomination letter from his wife, Kristen Thornton, made us cry like babies.

Kristen told us of all the incredible things that God has done in Tony's life over the past six years, and how he's responded by volunteering for his church's Vacation Bible School, conducting a prayer walk, teaching Sunday school, and his general compassion for any and all that are blessed to meet him.

He was obviously the right man for God's work on the many things he's handled and he was an easy choice to receive this week's Kiss Country Caught in the Act Award!

Tony Thornton is a gem unlike any other. He’s always been the giving guy, who would give the shirt off his own back or the last penny he had. But his real journey started in January 2017 when he brought his family back to church and a relationship with the Lord. You see things weren’t easy, but he laid it on the line and made it work. In 2017 Tony started volunteering wherever it was needed. He began volunteering each and every year for Vacation Bible School at our church. Fast forward a little bit and he did a prayer walk through Shreveport/Bossier for 7 days and walked over 150 miles. On his day off on Wednesdays he goes to the bus stop and hands out donuts and talks and prays with people. He’s taken time out to help at Hope House with the outdoor friends collecting trash and other items. For the past 4 years he has taught Sunday school to a multi-generational class and he loves it. Every single Thursday he goes out to Cumberland Farms in the K-side neighborhood to teach a lesson and mentor kids and youth. This truly has become the highlight of his week. I’ve witnessed countless times him giving the cash he has to someone in need. He never questions it, just does. Recently he did a day long prayer walk through Bossier and came across some special people. One young lady he got to talk with mentioned needing a bible, so he gave her a very special bible that was given to him from a friend. No questions asked, he just did it. When I asked why he said it was something he just needed to do it. You see I’m lucky and extremely blessed to be married to this wonderful man. I’ve had the greatest pleasure to be married to him for almost 20 years. Thank you, Tony, for everything you have done, will do, and continue to do.

Tony Thornton, because you've been 'Caught in the Act' the gang at Silver Star Smokehouse have a $100 Gift Certificate for you and the family to come have dinner on them!

Take a listen to the phone call we made to Tony to let him know that he was this week's Caught In The Act Award recipient.
