When your wife says "I am a better person because of him" you've got to know that you're doing something right. And that's exactly what Samantha Houston wrote when telling us about her husband Tommy.

In fact, I think everyone would want to be better just for knowing Tommy. His selfless commitment to friends, family and perfect strangers are exactly why we're saluting him as this week's recipient of the Kiss Country Caught in the Act Award.

Tommy Houston is a Captain at Desoto Fire District 1 and Deputy Chief at Desoto Fire District 5. Tragedy struck our fir community twice last year. The fire chief at district 1 and Tommy’s best friend from a Mansfield Fire Dept. Tommy hand crafted flag boxes for the memorial flags for each family. It took him a long time and the detail he put into them is amazing. That’s just the kind of guy he is. He will help anyone. He takes pay in tea cakes quite often. He has changed my whole perspective on life and I am a better person because of him.

Tommy Houston, thank you for being one of the "good guys" and being a big reason why this is the greatest place in America to live!
