UPDATE: Due to inclement weather, this event has been rescheduled for Sunday, February 21, 2021.

ORIGINAL POST: Sunday is Valentine's Day and local healthcare workers at eight area hospitals are going to get a special treat thanks to The Simple Church and the Giving Bak Foundation.

This Sunday, February 14, 2021, from 8 am - 8 pm, in an effort to show our area healthcare workers how much they are appreciated and provide encouragement, the two entities expect to supply 2,500 meals and even give out some special prizes. Local businesses have stepped up to provide some incredible gifts like a Big Green Egg from Tubb's Hardware, a two-night stay at Margaritaville Resort Casino, a year's worth of pizza from Johnny's Pizza House, a year's worth of chicken fingers from Raising Cane's, and more. (Check out the full list of donors here. It's IMPRESSIVE!)

Of course, you can't pull off feeding this many people without help from volunteers and donors. You can still volunteer to help fill food boxes at a specific hospital for the day or evening shift Sunday. They also need folks to donate six-packs of bottled water. They also need monetary donations to help cover the cost of supplying 2,500 meals, drinks, desserts, and prizes. To volunteer or donate via The Simple Church, click here.

You can also volunteer or donate through the Giving Bak Foundation, as well. If you're not familiar, Giving Bak was founded right here in Shreveport to help provide aid and hot meals during troubled times. Read more about Giving Bak's mission here.

God Bless these amazing people for their good works!
