The loose organization of men and women that make up the volunteer force commonly referred to as the "Cajun Navy," have changed their name.  More specifically the "Cajun Navy 2016," will now be officially known as Pinnacle Search and Rescue after the group decided it needed distance from another group of boat owners that spring into action after a natural disaster such as the flooding in Houston that came as a result of Hurricane Harvey.

According to WDSU, the rescue group was already planning to change their name but decided to speed up the process after the president of America's Cajun Navy (ACN) was arrested in October and accused of stealing money from a children's charity.  The move was made to further distance Pinnacle from the ACN.

Currently, there are 10 registered non-profits and businesses that use the name "Cajun Navy," in Louisiana.
