
Lake Claiborne Closed To All Boat Traffic Until Further Notice
Bad news for anyone who might have planned a weekend on Lake Claiborne in the Homer, Louisiana area. The lake is closed until further notice.

As most of Louisiana has been pounded with rain for the last two weeks, officials have determined that Lake Claiborne is unfit for any type of boating activity and have closed the lake for all boat traffic.
In the notice issued by the Claiborne Parish Sheriff's Office on Wednesday, June 24, we get the official word the lake is closed until further notice.
According to NOAA, Bayou D'Arbonne at Lake Claiborne is at 188.92 feet and should crest at approximately 189 feet about 7:00 this morning (June 25) and will stay above the Action Stage until approximately some time early Saturday (June 26) morning and will likely remain above pool stage for nearly another week.

Of course, those predictions could all change with additional rains and it would appear the area around Lake Claiborne isn't out of the woods yet. At 11:30 pm on Wednesday, June 24, the National Weather Service issued a Flood Watch effective until 1:00 pm on Thursday, June 25 for portions of Southern Arkansas and a number of North Louisiana parishes including Bienville, Claiborne, Jackson, Lincoln, Ouachita, Union and Webster.
NOAA shows the Action Level to be 187.75 feet. Minor Flooding at 188 feet. Moderate Flooding at 189 feet and Major Flooding at 191 feet. NOAA indicates that when the lake reaches a level of 187.5, residents should expect flooding of some camps. At 191 feet, we should expect flooding of numerous camps, some homes, and several roadways nearby the lake. Also some homes will be flooded and homeowners should make preparations for significant flooding.
