You won't have to look far to find something to do here in Kiss Country this weekend. Course, it's the opening weekend of "Primitive Weapons" season for deer hunters, so a lot of guys might be scarce early in the morning and late afternoon, but outside of that, you'll find lots going on.

  • The Downtown Shreveport Zombie Walk is scheduled for Saturday from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at 710 Texas, also known as Dr. Blood’s Library Macabre. Make plans to take in all the fun, photos, contests, music & food.  Admission is FREE.And when the Zombie Walk festivities end at Artspace, the fun will move to the Red River District for the Post Apocalypse Party from 5-9 pm.
  • The Blanchard Pumpkin Patch and Community Day Saturday from 10:30 am until 1:30 pm at Blanchard Elementary School near the tennis courts.  There will be carnival games, local performances, music, food, and of course the new crop of fall pumpkins.
  • Main Street Homer Classic Car Show Saturday, at Lake Claiborne State Park. Registration is 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. with awards at 2:00 p.m. The Main Street Homer Classic Car and Bike Show is open to all makes and models of cars and motorcycles.  There will be fun, food, music, a Piccadilly auction, and door prizes. Awards ceremony begins at 2 pm. There is a $2 entrance fee for non-participants.
  • The Charlie Daniels Band will be at Diamond Jacks Saturday at 8:00 pm.  Tickets start at $38.60.  Go to Ticketmaster.com to purchase online.
  • The Haughton Market & Artisan Fair will open Saturday and run each Saturday through November 8 starting at 12:00 pm at Ivey Lumber on Highway 80 in Haughton across from Brookshire's. Produce, prepared foods, baked goods, canned goods, crafts, and product consultants available.

New movies out this weekend include:

  1. Fury - Brad Pitt and Shia LaBeaouf star in this action adventure set in April, 1945. The Best of Me - The romantic drama starring Michelle Monaghan,James Marsden and Gerald McRaney is based on the bestselling novel by acclaimed author Nicholas Sparks, The Best of Me tells the story of Dawson and Amanda, two former high school sweethearts who find themselves reunited after 20 years apart, when they return to their small town for the funeral of a beloved friend.
