In a notice from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, we have learned that a couple of heavily used I-20 ramps are scheduled to be closed for a number of hours this Saturday.

In the notice, DOTD is warning drivers that this Saturday, April 26, the I-20 eastbound on-ramp from Pines Road in Shreveport will be closed.

While there is some consolation in that these ramps won't be closed all day, they are scheduled for closure from approximately 7:00 am to 1:00 pm and are necessary to allow for roadway striping operations.

The DOTD has made it clear that these are total ramp closures with no exceptions and all vehicles will need to utilize an alternate route. They have suggested using I-220 eastbound to Jefferson Paige Road

Of course, with this and all work of this nature, inclement weather could delay, extend or alter in other ways the scheduled work day/hours.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.

Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
