Shreveport Fire Chief Craig Mulford Pleads Not Guilty in Fire Station 8 Scandal
Shreveport Fire Chief Craig Mulford pleads not guilty to five counts of malfeasance in office in connection with the Station 8 scandal.
Mulford and assistant chief Tommy Carpenter were arraigned in Caddo District Court.
Mulford is accused of failing to report the abuse of two mentally challenged men to police that crime may have occurred
In court documents related to the firefighter's arrests, the investigator claimed that Mulford dismissed the initial accusations as rumor, and even ordered an FBI special agent off of city property.
An affidavit alleges that Mulford was aware of alleged abuse a full week before the timeline released by SFD claims.
Carpenter has also pleaded not guilty. He's accused of lying to a Caddo Parish grand jury.
Five former firefighters Jason Vaughan, Clint Richardson, Billy Glass, Derrick Harris and Randy Chandler are accused of abusing two mentally challenged at Fire Station 8.
