When we called Sherry this morning we could hear a baby crying in the background and incorrectly assumed that she was babysitting one of her grandchildren.

Nope! It was the child of a friend who teaches in DeSoto Parish and their daycare had closed due to the recent COVID developments. That friend knew who to call.

See, Sherry is just that type of person. Always there to help out with a smiling face and a giving heart. And that's why she is this week's recipient of the Kiss Country Caught in the Act Award!

Just look at her nomination letter that we got from her daughter, Hillary Hamilton.

I just want to take a moment to brag on this woman I call Mom, though we didn’t make it easy on her growing up she never turned her back on us, and when I say us, there’s 4 of us, and she raised us all by herself. She never got child support, never asked for anything, she would go many nights without eating to make sure we all ate. She would go to bed crying some nights because she was just worn down. Fast forward we are all grown with children of our own now and she is the most amazing meme, literally not one time any of us have called on her for anything and I mean anything and she’s there. She don’t complain, she don’t say no, she just jumps and does it. She goes out of her way to help others, she takes friends to chemo, drs visits, gives people rides home that she don’t even know. When my dad was on deaths door and hospitalized in Life Care for what seemed like a n eternity, she stayed right by his side, when my grandma was dying from cancer, she was there every step of the way. Anytime a friend needs help moving or just anything, she’s there!!! She’s just beyond amazing and I can’t say enough how truly grateful I am for all she is and all she has done for us and everyone that she’s ever met. Please pick her!!!! She is the most selfless, loving, caring and deserving person I know.

Sherry Dyess, thank you for being so amazing! You are a big reason why this is the greatest place in America to live! And because you've been 'Caught in the Act' the gang at Silver Star Smokehouse have a $100 Gift Certificate for you and the family to come have dinner!
