Powerful North Louisiana Storm Again Knock Power Out to Thousands

A powerful thunderstorm that ripped through North Louisiana Sunday night has once again left thousands of SWEPCO customers in the dark this morning.

As of 4:29 am Monday morning, June 3, SWEPCO is reporting that 13,448 customers are without power.

While many who were left powerless around 9:45 pm on Sunday night, have had that power returned, SWEPCO is still working on the over 13,000 left in the dark.

While it would appear the outages are widespread across much of Northwest Louisiana into East Texas, some of the hardest hit areas appear to be south of I-20.

Stonewall Area

Mansfield and South DeSoto Parish

Loggy Bayou and Ringgold Area

Haughton Area

To report an outage or a safety hazard that might include downed wires that may be sparking or near water, downed power poles, or trees that have fallen on power lines, go HERE to SWEPCO's website.  Remember, NEVER go near or touch a power line.

More Severe Weather Could Be Headed For The Arklatex Area

And it doesn't look like we are out of the woods yet in regards to potentially severe weather.  According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, we have a slight risk for severe thunderstorms again today into tonight across much of the entire Arklatex.

In a Hazardous Weather Outlook, the NWS says:

Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms will persist to some extent during the work week. However, the coverage and intensity of thunderstorms should see a decrease each day through Thursday. Then, we can expect another weak cold front to arrive on Friday with more widespread thunderstorms ending overnight. Then look for a nice weekend for a late spring change of pace.
