34 Years Later: The Unsolved Disappearance of Pennie from Bossier City
For 34 years, the family of Bossier City woman Penelope "Pennie" Marie Madanat has not given up hope. Every year, they share her picture, determined to find answers to the question: How does someone go missing without a trace?
Pennie vanished on October 26, 1991, after leaving the parking lot of what was then Cowboys nightclub, which is now Big Country, and easy to spot off I-20.
Her cousin, Michelle Hay Spence, posted a recent reminder: "I share this every year, hoping someone will come forward with information that could give our family answers. I pray that one day we will find her."
Last Known Details in Bossier City
At the time of her disappearance, 23-year-old Pennie was separated from her husband, Akhim "Eddie" Madanat, and resided in Bossier City, Louisiana, with their two young children. She had just earned her cosmetology license and was celebrating her first paycheck that night.
Witnesses at Cowboys saw Pennie arguing with Eddie. While he claimed she demanded to be let out of his car and began walking down Gould Drive, a nearby restaurant clerk confirmed seeing her ask for change to use a payphone, with a dark-colored vehicle parked outside. She has never been heard from again.
Foul Play Suspected
Eddie Madanat failed two polygraph exams shortly after Pennie disappeared, and authorities consider him a possible suspect. The case is complicated because Eddie took their children to Jordan, and the lack of an extradition treaty means he cannot be forced to return for questioning. Foul play is suspected, and the case remains unsolved.
Pennie was 5’7”, 128 pounds, with auburn hair, blue eyes, and wore braces.
