Suicide claimed 39,518 lives in 2011 in the United States alone, with someone dying by suicide every 13.3 minutes.  A suicide attempt is made every minute of every day, resulting in nearly one million attempts made annually.

When you walk in the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s Out of the Darkness Walks, you join the effort with thousands of people nationwide to raise money for AFSP’s vital research and education programs to prevent suicide and save lives. The walks raise awareness about depression and suicide, and provide comfort and assistance to those who have lost someone to suicide.

The Northwest Louisiana Out of Darkness Walk for Suicide Prevention for the Shreveport/Bossier City area will be held on Saturday September 27, 2014 at LSUS campus (come in on the Youree Drive side of LSUS) starting with registration at 7:00 am and the walk will begin at 8:30 am and conclude approximately 11:30 am.

To register for the walk, visit afsp.org/walks or call Megan Murray at 318-458-8540
