I must admit, my reasons for promoting this event are somewhat self-serving.

See, Bossier City Police Officer Chad Kelley is a close personal friend and I would do anything within my power to help him during his time of need.

And his time of need is now, so I'm all in.

Officer Kelley is one of the good guys. We began our friendship over twenty years ago when he selflessly gave of his time and talents for years coaching my oldest son in baseball.

Chad was there for every practice, every game, every tournament...and for years. And the boys of that team truly blossomed with a huge number of them going on to play ball all the way into college.

Chad and I have hunted together, fished together, cried together and laughed together. And it wasn't long ago I cried on his behalf when his wife shared with me the devastating news that Chad had been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer.

To battle this particular cancer, Chad will need stem cell treatment at Baylor for an extended period and to aid him with the financial strain this will put on his family, his police brothers in the Bossier FOP Lodge #39 are holding a fundraiser today, Friday, August 23.

To help offset any expenses during his time of need, treatment and recovery, Bossier Police are inviting everyone to come have lunch with them today and make a donation to Officer Kelley.

Beginning at 11:00 am in front of the Bossier Police Station at 620 Benton Road in Bossier City, Bossier's finest will cook up some amazing hamburger plates which will include a drink and all they ask is your donation for Officer Kelley.

They've stated they'll serve from 11:00 am "until the food is gone" so make plans to join them for lunch and help my friend, Officer Chad Kelley. I promise you; he's certainly very deserving.

Louisiana's 21 Most Wanted Criminals

While some of these have been missing for over 50 years and are likely deceased, many have escaped prison in the past 10 years and could likely still be in Louisiana so keep your eyes peeled and should you spot one of these criminals, immediately contact police.
