Bossier Police Want to Feed You To Support Officer’s Son
Okay Shreveport/Bossier, it's time for us to do what we do best; let's help one of our own!
The Bossier Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #39 is planning a fundraiser to benefit for the son of Officer Chris Porter's son, Gunner.
Gunner is the twelve-year-old son of Officer Porter and his wife Avis and he's recently been diagnosed with cancer.
We've learned from Bossier FOP that the cancer began as a tumor on Gunner’s spine. Doctors were able to remove about 85% of the cancer.
However, as doctors continue the fight on the remaining cancer cells in young Gunner's body, he's been unable to walk and has been transported to New Orleans Children’s Hospital for intensive rehabilitation with the hopes of being transferred to Texas Children’s in Houston for further treatment.
The cancer fight has been a burden on Officer Porter’s family as he continues to work as a police officer balancing work and caring for their three other children.
And now, Officer Porter needs our help! As the Bossier Police wrote:
Our community has always stepped up when we needed help with previous fundraisers. We asking for your help. Let’s get together for Gunner’s fight!
With helping the Porter family as the goal, Bossier FOP will hold a cookout fundraiser this Friday, October 4 beginning at 11:00 am at the Bossier City Police Headquarters at 620 Benton Road in Bossier City.
Barbecue pulled pork sandwich plates are on the menu and all donations for the meal will be donated to Gunner's family to aid in his battle. The cookout will continue they run out of food.
Those unable to make it for lunch this Friday can help Gunner through the GoFundMe account set up for his aid.
