If you live in or around the Haughton/Princeton area, you know Norman Craig. Everyone in the area knows Norman.  And once you know Norman, you LOVE Norman!

This one was hard for me to write about, because Deputy Norman Craig is my father in law.  The same man who used to joke that I was the only man to answer the classified ad he took out when he was shopping for a husband for his daughter, was know being honored by the entire community as this week's Caught in the Act Award recipient.

But it wasn't me or any of his family members who nominated Norman.  It was Amber Beach, a 4th grade teacher at Princeton Elementary School, who like most everyone who spends time with Norman, sees just how incredibly awesome this man truly is.

Amber appreciates him so much that she took the time to nominate him for this week's Caught in the Act Award and it was the respect that oozed out of her letter that made it clear, Norman was our man this week.

Officer Norman Craig is the school resource officer at Princeton Elementary where I am a 4th grade teacher. Princeton is located in the backwoods of Bossier Parish, but in those backwoods of Bossier working out of an old book room is the one of our schools systems finest.... Sheriff Department SRO Norman Craig. Officer Craig does so much more than keep our school safe and you will never meet a man with a bigger heart. We have many under privileged students at our school. Officer Craig stopped at nothing to make sure these children had the Christmas they deserved, and that their parents could not afford. He went out and bought toys for each of these children or found another officer with the Bossier Parish Sheriffs to purchase toys for these children. Aside from playing Santa, Officer Craig often mentors our students and relates to them on a personal level- the children of Prince ton adore him- He is making a difference in there lives. From the children to the adults at Princeton, he takes care of us all. He changes tires, cooks or orders lunch, watches classrooms, drys tears, and is always a listening ear. This school year Officer Craig was diagnosed with cancer. We were all devastated for him- as a school we all laid hands on him and prayed, asking God to heal this man that is so special to our school. Cancer or no caner, treatment or no treatment he kept on trucking along in his hero like fashion, missing very little work so that he could be near his Princeton family. Norman Craig job is to keep our school safe, but he does so much more than that for Princeton Elementary.

Deputy Norman Craig, thank you for being one of the biggest reasons why this is the greatest place in America to live!
